Rider and Equine Soft Tissue Therapy
Combining both her human and equine knowledge, Dee is a specialist in soft tissue therapy for both the horse and the rider. From her background as a competitive rider herself and in international rugby in which it is compulsory for premiership players to have daily sports massage for ‘maintenance’, Dee feels this is the keyword for all horses and riders. Prevention is always better than cure and with a horses body weight being comprised of 60% muscle and a riders tremendous impact on that horse, particularly at international level, maintenance is key! Dee also works with farriers, arena contractors and course designers on a regular basis.
Rider and Equine Specific Programme of Exercises
Equestrian sport is completely unique as it requires two athletes to work as one. Dee says to all of her riders ‘it is my job to release and your job to strengthen’, as it is vital that riders realise the profound influence they have on their horses. Through working with both athletes, Dee will provide Ben with information on both athletes as she learns the weaknesses and strengths of each and Ben can therefore work on the strengthening and conditioning component for the rider. Providing bespoke programmes for each rider, suing their schedules and facilities.
Rider and Equine Biomechanics Sessions
Putting the puzzle together. Looking at both the horse and rider together is key for optimising performance. Ben often views the biomechanics sessions in order to see the rider on the horse and for the pair and the rider to go through their thoughts and findings, enabling everyone to be on the same page.
Deep Oscillation Therapy
Dee is lucky to be one of a few equine soft tissue therapists that have this unique, patented treatment method. Purchased in order to treat some conditions or problems she cannot solely treat with her hands. Its special structure allows you to create biologically effective oscillations in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction. In contrast to other therapies, these pleasant oscillations have a gentle and deep-acting effect on all tissue components (skin, connective tissue, muscles, blood and lymph vessels). Dee uses this on both horse and rider and the benefits have been incredible.
Rider & Equine Kinesiology Taping
Trained for the application to both the human and as one of the first for the horse, Dee uses taping every day with the vast majority of her clients. There are so many ways and reasons to use this tape and it is for that reason it is always seen on the world stage and a favorite with competitors.
Location and Travel
Dee and Ben travel to clients primarily in Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas, but they do often travel further afield for bigger yards and abroad regularly. Dee also works monthly in Holland.
Dee and Ben take the time to look at the smaller things that make the big difference in your and your horse’s performance and recovery. Dee loves working with both the horses and riders, and seeing both provides the perfect symmetry package. Ben then backs this all up with making sure the rider is in as peak fitness as the horse.

“Dee has been working with me and my horses for many years now and has traveled with me to many international competitions. All my horses have such different temperaments and have to be handled very differently and Dee works with them as individuals. One of my horses is very sharp but she manages to calm her and this really helps before her dressage as she can get very tense. Dee treats me and I feel a lot better afterwards as riding so many can make the body sore. Alongside being a good soft tissue therapist she has become a close friend, I trust her with my horses and recommend her highly.”
